Degrassi/Homosexuality

Degrassi has numorous homoesexual characters which include Adam a female to male transgender. Marco, Tristen and Riley who are all gay. Miles and Paige who are bisexual and Imogen, Jack and Fiona who are lesbians.

When Degrassi introduced the character of Adam, who was transgender. The viewing public had issues. One article stated that a Florida family association was upset with the show and felt it was unresponsible in introducing this character to the public.

Also with degrassi, the transgender character is paired with a Christian girl named Becky, who came from a very religious family. The show protrayed the struggles of the girl's family accecpting the realtionship and Becky's struggle to come to terms with Adam being transgender.
